LibrarySearch Tips

LibrarySearch is the library's searching tool to locate books, ebooks, articles, videos, and more provided by the campus libraries, with options to search more widely in other institution libraries.

What's in LibrarySearch?
By default, you are searching the following ARCC collections:
  • Online Subscriptions and Open Content - An interdisciplinary collection of articles, eBooks, journals, streaming videos, and databases, including many of the peer-reviewed journals and databases (although not all) to which the library subscribes.
  • Physical Materials - Books, DVDs, CDs  maps or atlases, and any other print resources including course reserves.
Use the Advanced Search (link located to the right of the search box) to select a more specific resource.
To search only physical items (books, DVDs, etc.) in the ARCC libraries, use the radio button next to the option labeled Anoka-Ramsey (Coon Rapids & Cambridge) Libraries, or choose one of the individual campuses for a specific location.

Change the selection to Other Libraries or the University of Minnesota to expand your search to look in other college and university libraries across the whole state. Regardless of which campus the book is coming from, a picture ID is needed to check out books.

We use a service called Interlibrary Loan (ILL), which allows students, staff and faculty to request and check out books that belong to other institutions. The service is free, and it eliminates the need for every library to purchase all the books that students could need. With ILL, we have an efficient system in place that coordinates the process, maximising student access to resources.

Requested books are sent to us through a courier system. When items arrive, students are notified by email. Students come to the library service desk to check out the book. When finished, simply return it to the service desk. We will take care of sending it back to its original location.

Librarians are happy to help you find and request books from other libraries. For assistance, see our contact information on the ARCC library homepage.
