PIC, the Photographers' Identity Catalog, is an index from the New York Public Library to find information about photographers. Search by photographer name. Each entry links out to museum websites that contain that artist's photographs, their Wikipedia profile, and more.

Wikipedia is a useful starting point for your research. Remember to follow the links in the References section and use those sources — college-level work generally does not cite Wikipedia articles as sources. Browse the list of photographers or use the search box to find your photographer.
Use the Library's Combined Search to look for articles, videos, and books and ebooks on art and history including specific artists and works.
