Finding a Peer-Reviewed Journal Article for Your Discipline Using BrowZine

These instructions are meant to supplement this video:
Please watch the video first as it will fill in missing details!
  1. If possible, conduct an interview with a professor/professional in the field you are interested in.
  2. What field is the interviewee in? Is there a more specific sub-field? (for example biology and the sub-field marine biology)
  3. Use Browzine to find a resource.
    • You can search a field or sub-field in the search bar, or you can find it by going to the browse subjects area below the search bar.
    • Select a field and sub-field if necessary. Journals can be sorted A-Z or by journal rank. It is suggested that you sort by journal rank. This will put the most widely read/respected articles in that field at the top of the list.
    • Many journals have an embargo that doesn't allow you to get articles from the last year, while others have longer embargos. Find a volume without a lock symbol next to it and pick an article you can access.
    • Click an article title to access the article. Once you locate an article to use, locate a permanent link and/or download it so that you can access it in the future.
